About Me

Let's inspire each other!

At age seven, Brie Musgrave sculpted a sprawling modeling clay village that won gold at the county fair and promptly melted in the August heat. Brie’s lifelong fascination with all things art drove them to try every medium under the sun. In elementary school, that same curiosity led them to look over the shoulder of a friend reading Natsuki Takaya’s “Fruits Basket” and ask why she was reading the book backwards. The world of anime and manga introduced a young Brie to a world of literature that respected their young audience as equals, introducing topics that were tantalizingly forbidden in western children’s media. Inspired by the icons James Baxter and Masaaki Yuasa, Brie goes to great lengths to invoke a sense of fluidity, pathos, and motion with their work. Their work as an animation generalist blends traditional sculpture and painting techniques with motion graphics. While they do have a strong preference towards 2D animation, they enjoy the modeling aspect of 3D technology and they’ll always jump at the chance to explore an unfamiliar technique. Brie’s priorities lie with creating quality content that best fits with the needs and style of the story waiting to be told.
Recently, they completed a fully textured, navigable virtual environment using Autodesk Maya, Unreal Engine 4.0, and Substance Painter. They have contributed to multiple web-based games including the character art for the dating sim, “Please Leave Me Alone,” and the visual assets for a couple of reworked Atari games. Brie has also worked as a graphic designer for the newspaper, Stoutonia. They created stickers, posters, and various promotional content for the newspaper; some of which stayed in use years after they left.
